Any good jazz ear training perspectives?

I've mostly sung through tons of changes and done lots of interval training. Currently I'm practicing singing bop lines. I'm gonna learn one tune, then transpose it up a half step and down a half step. Does anyone have any other ear training ideas?

Ideas for a memory board for a funeral?

my grandmother ped away and we are having a memorial for her over memorial day. my mother asked me to put together a memory board (i rock at crafts) out of all the pictures we found at my grandmothers place from her childhood through today....i have some ideas but i dont want to do anything too tacky/crafty...but i still want it to be 'fun' to look at. a lot of my family that we havent seen in years are coming and are in the pictures so i do not want to offend them with a cutesy look. i am open to any ideas whatsoever and love tons of work, so every idea is welcome! please help!

Hello, it would be a big help if you could give as much info about your system as possible eg, what OS do you use, type and speed of CPU, how much memory you have, do you maintain your computer on a regular basis that is do you defrag your hard drives and do you check your system hard drive for errors on a regular basis including Virus and Mal-ware checks, also how much hard drive space is available, I always keep my system hard drive at least 50% free this helps defrag to work faster and should help other programmes to work faster too, also when your burning and editing do you make sure no other programmes are runing in the background, have you checked that your burner drivers and firmware are up to date. it all helps.

Daughter is sick and DR can't figure out the problem?

On Tuesday my 16 yr old daughter woke up with her forehead swollen quite badly on the left hand side. As the day went on the swelling moved to her mid- forehead and was causing tremendous pressure on her head and eyes. We went to the DR and he took some blood tests,a urinalysis, and a CT scan with dye contrast and didn't see any problems with her sinuses, no infections etc. The next morning the swelling was down in her eyes almost swelling them shut, we went back to the DR who again ran more tests finding nothing but decided to try to treat it like an allergy with prednisone which got rid of the swelling. Last night my daughter was isnexcruciating pain all over her arms,chest,back of her neck ,ribs from just a touch or the pressure of laying down. More tests in the ER, the only thing they could find is that her white count is elevated and still they don't have a diagnosis. I am hoping a DR will read this and know what is going on. If so please give me a guess on a diagnosis.

How to get rid of horsey smell on my clothes?

My clothes absolutley reek of horses. Friends and family keep saying how much I smell of horses and my nice clothes are starting to smell too. I used to like the smell but now it's really annoying. My horses don't like it when I smell of perfume or spray, they prefer the smell of themselves, and that's about the only benefit. My coats are always in the wash, and I usually get the smell in the evening, after stuffing haynets, changing rugs etc. Any tips?

I applied for a job and was contacted by an HR representative saiyng that my resume had been ped along to the hiring manager for review, and that she had looked it over and was going to be contacting me for a phone interview. My Flowerhorn Laid Eggs?

This is the 3rd time my female laid eggs the 2 batch of eggs she laid before were infertile, the 1st time when the female laid eggs i had no male in the tank the eggs were infertile and she ate the eggs. 2nd time when she laid eggs the male was there in the tank separated with a gl divider i removed the gl several times for the male and and the female to get along but they kept on fighting ,on the day the female started laying eggs i removed the gl divider but the female didn't allow the male to fertilize the eggs..the eggs were infertile and she ate them , the 3rd time ...today the female started laying eggs when i removed the gl divider she started chasing the male away from the eggs so i put the divider back and separated them ,after the female had finished laying eggs i removed her and put the male to fertilize the eggs .....now are the eggs fertilized or the male has to immediately fertilize the eggs when they are being laid by the female ?and also the eggs are red in color where as i have heard the eggs have to be clear or transparent, is it because i feed her high red ?

good music making is first a craft and then an art. You can't have art without the craft. There are hundreds of methods devised to help people learn the craft of their particular instuments, some of them are really effective, and others just diddle around. Learning by ear, as you described is a very slow and not so efficient way of doing things. If the kid in the story is very young ( like 3 years old) it would work, but watch out- 3 year-olds pick up things awfully quickly and demand more. There are plenty of books at the music store for beginning piano, and if the teacher should happen to flip through it before he gets to work with the kid, he might pick up a few tips on how to go about teaching- which is also a craft. There are lots of professional musicians who make rotten teachers. They know what they are doing and how it feels and how they express themselves in music, but it's hard for them to communicate that to others in words. some people who are less talented as musicians make better teachers- they have had to work out the teaching details in their own heads first. ( the best of course is a pro who is a stunning teacher- really rare)

Puppy Potty Training Blues...?

I have an 8 week old male daschund puppy. We have been working to house break him but we have had issues come up. He does not have access to his food or water 24/7. 1... We take him out every 30 mins, but he will pee outside, come in and go again 5 mins later. 2.. He pees where he is laying at on the couch, even if he just went. 3.. We put him in his kennel at night. In today's schools, why are advanced (GATE, honors, and AP) the target of criticism from parents and students?

I'm with you on this one. I was in Gifted (Advanced, high IQ... Basically honors cles) from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and was placed in Honors and AP cources in Highschool, but because the programs had such poor funding, they were no better--possibly worse--than the regular ed. cles. We couldn't afford the books and other materials the cles required, and the advanced Chemistry cl had virtually no lab time because of limited supplies and students who couldn't pay the outrageous lab fees. It resulted in a lot of students (myself included) withdrawing from the public schools and being home educated so that they would be able to work at their leve and not be held back by a lack of funds. It isn't fair, and I'd like to know why it has to be this way.

Oversaturation of a pee stick?...?

I asked this on the pregnancy section but wanted as many respnses as possibe. What would happen if you oversaturated a pee stick? Here is my current situation. I am due for AF tomorrow, I took a HPT last night because I am really tired and my are sore. When I peed on it, I did miss and hit the result window and I think I may have peed for more than 5 seconds on it. IDK. Anyway, I looked at it for ten minutes and didn't really see anything to speak of. I may have seen something faint but at this point I don't trust my eyes. I threw it in the bathroom drawer and being a poas addict I went back and looked a couple hours later. I know I shouldn't do that BUT there was a very distinct blue line. I had the (+) test, I know there are such a thing as evaporation lines but I have understood them to be grayish and more shadowy, this was clearly blue, but it didn't fill the entire space of the test line just the right half. This morning it has faded a lot and the left half I can clearly see is an evaporation line, as it is very gray. I am definitely retesting, I did fmu in a cup and my friend is bringing me a test in a little bit but I was just wondering what you thought, could it have really been positive but since I oversaturated it, it didn't show till some of the urine dried, or could it just be a BFN/evaporation line?

How would you interpret this recurring dream?

I used to have this dream, and I've always wonder what it meant. I would walk to this city that's about a 2 hour drive from where I actually lived, but it never took long. As I went to this city, I'd p a plantation where these girls from my cl (generally ones who were mean to me) were working. When I got into the city, I'd go into this office building. All of the sudden, a T-Rex would start chasing me through the office building. It never caught me, but when we'd get on the elevator, it wouldn't eat me. It waited until the doors opened and started chasing me. I always woke up before it caught me, though.

You did the right thing by getting the Plan B so fast. It is effective up to 72 hours after unprotected and can make you feel uncomfortable though many people say it can't (FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE.) The symptoms your describing are the start of a cold and since you aren't on Birth Control yet the brownish substance could pre-period spotting. Not uncommon. I don't think you have anything to worry about. If your period does not come on time, you may want to consider taking a pregnancy test 3 to 4 weeks after the condom incident occurred. I also suggest you wait until after your period to begin your birth control so you stay on the same regularity as you're used to. It's easier on you and your body.

Testicular Discomfort - No pain or discomfort to the touch - dr diagnosed uti?

Hello Everyone. If anyone can shed some light on my issue here it would be greatly appreciated. About 1 1/2 months ago i noticed that i was having some testicular discomfort at certain times on and off usually while sitting. This would come for about 30 minutes then subside and i wouldnt notice it for a couple days. About two weeks ago the discomfort came back and it was a bit more prominent and consistent so i went to see my primary care doctor. The pain can be described as more of an ache and it occurred in my perineum area between the rectum and colon. On a scale of 1-10 it was a 1 or 2. My doctor took a urinalysis and said it was clear. He examined me for a hernia (turn your head and cough) and examined my testicals and said everything seemed fine. He chalked it up to muscle strain because i have been working out 6 days a week in the gym for the last 7 or 8 weeks. He said come back if there was a change in bowel movement or fever or lower back pain. Last wednesday i had lower back pain and diahrea so i then went back to my doctor - i had also been out of the gym all week trying to see if the pain was muscle strain and would subside. He tookl a urinalysis and found bacteria in my urine and diagnosed me with a uti. At that time the base of my hurt under the skin in my perineum area like an ache and when i would pee it would feel like someone stretched my . I have been on antibiotics now for 5 days (cipro 500 mg 2 x daily). He perscribed it for 10 days. The perineum paion went away but my testicals were in discomfort today. They almost feel like someone is squeeing the left one or that they are tangled. They do noty hurt when i touch them or feel them. There are no lumps present. No discharge. No blood in urine. No burning when i pee. Everything seems normal. Did i pinch a nerve or could this be something greater? It is really affecting my quality of life as i am an extremely anxious person whom worries about anything health related. I take paxil/lorazepam for anxiety/panic disorder. Please help. Thanks

I don't know much about marine fish but size wise they're gonna need a lot of room. Salt water tanks are a lot harder to take care of than freshwater ones, hopefully you've had experience with keeping fish as trying to keep a marine fish for your first pet is gonna be pretty disasterous... Question about Kung Fu Panda movie?

First of all I really enjoyed this movie, even though I am an adult. My question is about the end when Po is holding Tai-Lung's finger and he says something to the effect that he figured it out and then there is this gold colored wind that blows throughout the valley. How much trouble is it to convert air shocks to regular coil shocks?

i have a 2000 expedition(eddie bauer) and i noticed that the rear of the truck has already been converted to coil shocks but they left the front and i suspect there no good,the air compressor comes on but i never see or notice a difference but my main concern is the truck is tilted pretty bad to the right ,it is a good couple inches lower than the left side(unleveled) and if the air shock is out on right side ,how much trouble is it to swap out the air shock for the coil spring shock(and does it have to be a heavy duty) weight is about 7200lbs. with full capacity

I didn't have to camp out overnight. I took my wife to get her foreign doents reviewed at 7:15 AM on Friday, July 7th to the full service MVA facility in Gaithersburg and got in line at 7:25 AM when they opened the doors and started letting in small groups of people to get their doents verified. Once they verify your doents, they issue you a ticket and you exit the facility. You then proceed to lineup with everyone else outside at the door for driver's license services. At 8:30 the doors open up, you go to the information desk to get a number and wait for your number to be called by one of the clerks. The clerk takes the ticket you were issued by the doent verifier and begins processing your information and administers the vision test. If everything is in order, they issue some paperwork and you proceed to to take the law/knowledge test. I believe the road test must be schedule by appointment so I am not sure if you can take the road test the same day you do everything else. Good luck on your quest for your driver's license. I think during our younger years most people will experience depression of some sort, varying between a mild annoyance to and dangerously all consuming void of horror. I just 26 and now that I'm fully done with puberty a lot of things are finally starting to make some semblance of since too me. If things are really getting that bad, then I would suggest that you speak with your school counselor. At the least, by telling the counselor, your voicing how you feel inside to somebody else and maybe they might be able to help you, if not with medication then at least by becoming somebody to help lighten the mental load of everyday life. But please don't kill yourself, too many people contemplate the end when during these times it's most important to be looking towards the future. As for relationship wise, I find that when the fish aren't biting its time to pull your line in and check your lure,lol. What I mean when i say this is maybe you need to take change up your game strategy or even change the location of the your prospective targets to an area where you feel more comfortable, when i was younger for a while the girls at my school weren't feeling me when i would attempt to be flirtatious, by switching my area I began flirt with girls in different school districts via the mall or skate park. By being seen in the other places, I was capable of meeting a whole new ortment of girls that I was able to have a conversation and more with. Hang in there it's all gonna work, also as you get older things get a whole hell of a lot more funner and you don't want to miss out on that.

It sounds like the contacts on the compressor contactor are fried. This can be caused by loose wiring, problems with the compressor windings, or a number of other things that can cause high amperage draw through the contactor. You'll need an HVAC tech to replace the contactor and insure that all of the wiring connections are tight. I would also recommend using a megohmmeter to check the compressor windings, and checking the amperage draw on both the compressor and fan motor.

My opinion of police is the same as it was when I was a child...They don't help. They didn't help me when I was a child and our parents were beating us, they don't help in any point of my life. I don't waste my time calling the police. If you call them, the are not likely to even show up, and if they do bother to show up, the never do anything to help. Yes, I agree with you, I have seen cops re-write their ledgers to make it look like they responded to crimes they didn't respond to. When a person is torn between two choices, there's always one choice that pops in your head more than the other one. My aunt got stung by one on the tip of her finger. She went to the ER, and all they gave her was benedryl and sent her home. Usually, the pain is supposed to be pretty bad, but of all of the people I"ve met who have been stung (which is about 3 or 4), none of them ever had any major complications. Took benedryl, iced it, and that was it. You can go to the doc if you're nervous, but the reaction isn't all that uncommon.

Bearded dragon Exo Terra Tank water dish question?!?!?

Nice tank! What I would do is go to home depot or lowes and get a few ceramic tiles. The larger the better. Then put those under and around the water dish. The bearded dragon will have to go over the tiles in order to get to the water and hopefully most of the sand will end up on the tiles and not in the dish. He may also like to bask on the tiles as they will warm up fast.

How do I keep a squirrel out of my engine? That little bugger has now made a nest in my engine 10 times in the last month. My car is used on a daily basis so it's happening every night. Only once did it do damage, but it's a pain to keep cleaning out. I can't leave my hood open because I live in a place with lots of snow in the winter. I've parked in other locations, but it still finds me! I've even had the car washed in hopes of removing any sent it may have left behind, but it didn't work. I have a humane trap set out next to where I park. I've used a sonic rodent repeller, fox urine and pepper on the ground around my car, the tires, the bumper, I've even placed it in the engine block because I was desparate! I've used moth under the hood, but the crafty little thing used the moth in its most recent nest. I know that Rat Poison and anti-freeze are both options, but I was hoping there was a more humane way before resorting to killing it. Any ideas?

Well, if you have to go to tryouts I think medication is the way to go. Ibuprofen, Aleve, Midol may help. If you have the time, the heat on your abdomen should ease your cramps some also. Tower Processing Center in the Vergin Islands (Bad Check)?

I few weeks ago I received a check and a letter from Tower Processing Center. In the letter it explained to me that my names was drawn (one of many) and I wa the winner of $50,000.00. Also in this letter there was a check made out to me for $2,962.00. They clamed to be Publishers Clearing House and Readers Digest. The check they sent me was to help pay for the tax on the $50,000.00. At first it didnt seem to be a scam to me. After a few minutes I called the number they gave me to claim my prize. When I called this number it would tell me the mail box was full. At this point I started realizing that this was a scam. I called the bank the check was from and they had me fax them the check. Sure enough it was a counterfeit check. I started looking over the check and noticed that it said void. You can't see it in less you look really, really close. My question is has anyone got this check to? What happens when you cash it. What the scam people get out of this scam and anyother info you have

There are a lot of food safe pesticides at any local garden center for orchard use. You will definately need to spray the tree (usually several times a year). They also make very organic sprays if that is a concern for you with using manmade chemicals. It's not for me and the sprays work very well in warding off bugs. You did the right thing by mulching and pruning. Place a little fertilizer around the base, spray it with the pesticide, and if necessary place animal safe netting over the tree when the fruit is ripening to protect it from birds and I think the little tree will have good success. Also, depending on your variety of peach tree you may want to plant another peach tree nearby to encourage vigorous pollination. Peach trees are self pollinating however many times they will benefit from other peach tree's planted nearby. Good luck!

Also sit ups really do nothing for you, and push ups aren't all that great of a way to tone yourself. If you want to tone yourself or lose those few extra pounds, the best thing you can do for yourself is run, or swim! Those are great ways to get in shape. But please don't cut back on your diet to much, because that could be bad for you, seeing as though you are only 13.

What do I do, at my end?

O.k., up until this point I've had pretty clear thought on all of this, but this morning was the last straw. My children's father and I split up back in May, right after I found out I was pregnant with a very unplanned pregnancy, this will make our 3rd baby together. The problem then is the same now, he can't stay straight. At 30 yrs. old he dosen't seem to know that your children always come first. Why are motorhomes such a ripoff compared to caravans?

I know you have to pay for the van the conversion is based on when you buy a motorhome, but if you look at the price of a fiat ducato van for example, new, at about 14000 or so, an autotrail motorhome based on the fiat chis as seen on one website is 47000! we live at a place where we do not have any schools for such children and she has to stay at home. She does sometimes go to my aunt's own school meant for normal children but when se comes back home after spending few hours there, she keeps on repeating the name of one girl whom she likes. Its really bad for her to repeat the girl's name so many times and that leads her to talk on her own so much. So we decided to let her stay at home. There should be. There should be more programs focused on safe and abstinence so there can be a prevention of teen pregnancy and std infections. At my high school the pregnancy rate is really high and we actually have a day care for the babies born out of wed-lock. Sure we have a child-development cl that teaches us how to take care of babies but we should have a required course that focuses mainly on safer practices. I'm proud to say that I'm still a virgin and haven't fallen into the trap of pre-marital and the dangerous side-effects of it. Many people say that is fun but they don't tell you of the emotional and sometimes physical pain you go through when your having at a young age. We need more insightful education about these things because obviously the abstinence or waiting till your married talk isn't getting through.

Drum Kit Help For A Beginner?

I just got a drum kit for my birthday a week ago, and it's fun as hell. My only problem is that I can't seem to be able to play a different beat on the b drum then on anything else. All my foot is good for at this point is keeping time. I've played a single snare for concert/marching season since 5th grade so I have experience drumming. My older brother is a drummer as well, and he says that limb independance will come over time, and I just need to keep working at it. Heatran is also fine. Electivre would be a bit more useful if it knew Earthquake, and Thunderpunch instead of Thunderbolt. Physical attacks are alot more useful on him. Keep Waterfall on Gyarados, DONT replace it with Surf. Gyarados is obviously more physically based. Your only problem are those Regis. Your Regirock cant do a think to Skarmory, Scizor, Jirachi, Metagross, Registeel, Bronzong, Lucario, Empoleon, Heatran, or Forretress. Shocking, huh? Earthquake can easily take over Iron Defense, it wont be needing any more Defense. Plus, a simple Taunt can force you to swith out, much like Regice. Speaking of Regice, it's really easilly countered, take Infernape par example. A Flare Blitz can easily take down Regice, and Weavile can usually 2HKO it (cant be positive, EV's not given). So you might want Ice Beam or a Hidden Power, gr or electric are good options. Or you might just want to take Regice off the team, it is easily bested by Blissey, who has astronomical health, more Sp. Def, and fewer weaknesses (not to mention a more gracious movepool.)

If an infection goes untreated what will happen?

I got my wisdom teeth out about 8 days ago. They gave me an anti biotic so I would not get an infection. After about 5 days being on the anti biotic I got alot of pain in my jaw and teeth and a gross taste in my mouth so I called my doctor. They prescribed another anti biotic that is strong to beat the infection. They gave me this today but I did not take it yet because you can not drink alcohol while taking the anti biotic. What will stick to porcelain?

I want to put a tile mosaic in my sink. It looks terrible and I dont want to use that spray on porcelain repair that's for tubs and sinks. The overflow hole has rusted through so I want to plug it, cover the hole completely and mosaic tile the bowl, leaving just the drain hole. I can't afford to rip out the counter tile(the sink is currently tiled into the counter) I have tried ruffing the sink with a piece of heavy floor tile, coarse sandpaper and a putty knife and applied thin set mortar to a small section but most of it scs off fairly easily. What can I use to ruff it up enough to make the mortar, tile and grout stick permanently? Then do I use grout sealer or do I cover the entire mosaic and grout with something else? Blue smoke is usually oil. Fuel smoke is more black and smells like unburned gas. A couple of things that I would do. Check the paper air filter for oil. If it has oil on it change it. Next I would put a teaspoon of fresh gas in the sparkplug hole, replace the plug and try to start it. You may have to do this a couple of times to clear out the cylinder. If it tries to run and quits after a few seconds I would suspect the carburetor. Make sure that the sparkplug is clean and free of oil. I understand from your description that you pulled the flywheel and checked the key? Did you torque the flywheel when you put it back on? It needs to be torqued to around 50-60 ft lbs. If you don't torque it enough the first time it fires it will shear the key. Have you checked the compression? It should blow your thumb off the hole when yolu crank it. Just some ideas to check. Hope some of this helps. Not too sure about your spark testing method. Even a weak spark could bring tears to your eyes. You need to make sure that it will spark through the plug.

So I have a problem, I'm 15 and my little sister is 8. Whenever she ticks me off I usually hit her or yell at her, recently my dad got fed up and said the next time I hit her or made her scream he would beat me so much that social services would have to take me away. He was very serious about it and my mom even agreed with it. So today I hit her for a few reasons, she flipped and called my mom who in turn called my dad who is usually on the road but right now he is about 3 hours away. After that happened my little sister told me she started TRYING to make me mad so I hit her so I would have to leave the house cause of my dad. I told my mom and she yelled at my little sister and then said that she would try to talk my dad down to not kill me. I kinda need a backup plan just in case she can't. I am near the really deep country so I have an option to run away, and I know there is no way I can talk my dad out of beating me senseless. I am so-so in wilderness survival, but I really don't want to turn to that. I just want some advice on how to get out of it so that I can stay at home. Internal Seagate Barracuda. Corrupt command line interpreter prevented booting. Got my XP CD and hit R one screed too early (instead of repairing from the install, I selected the Recovery Console instead). I typed FIXBOOT and FIXMBR, and the drive disappeared altogether. I went back and typed FIXBOOT C: and now when I go to the install, I don't get the R option to repair through the install, it appears that if I continue, it will completely format the drive. I want to recover the drive if only long enough to copy the contents to a new 500 gb Barracuda. Any techheads out there, I would appreciate a hand!

Yes, time is a great healer. You were lucky to be with your mom during her final moments. My grandmother died of brain aneurysm also and she was out of the country so I never had the chance to see her. I has been almost 20 years but whenever she comes into mind, I still feel that it was only yesterday and I can't help but feel teary eyed. I guess, that you will never really totally heal from these kinds of things but you'll get better as time pes by.
