How to become a mercenary?

i would like to become a mercenary, i have several years of martial arts trainning... i understand you need background with the military or law enforcement, but i was wondering if anybody could give me some specifics or if certain jobs performed in the military are favored more than others when somebody is looking to hire a mercenary, any help will be greatly appreciated. thank you
