What happened to the Free Tibet movement?

Tibet is suffering cultural genocide at the hands of the Chinese, but nobody seems to care anymore. People tend to have a "that's just the way it is" attitude about it and do not see a point in doing anything. What right does China have to rule over Tibet that people think China deserves?
