Tower Processing Center in the Vergin Islands (Bad Check)?

I few weeks ago I received a check and a letter from Tower Processing Center. In the letter it explained to me that my names was drawn (one of many) and I wa the winner of $50,000.00. Also in this letter there was a check made out to me for $2,962.00. They clamed to be Publishers Clearing House and Readers Digest. The check they sent me was to help pay for the tax on the $50,000.00. At first it didnt seem to be a scam to me. After a few minutes I called the number they gave me to claim my prize. When I called this number it would tell me the mail box was full. At this point I started realizing that this was a scam. I called the bank the check was from and they had me fax them the check. Sure enough it was a counterfeit check. I started looking over the check and noticed that it said void. You can't see it in less you look really, really close. My question is has anyone got this check to? What happens when you cash it. What the scam people get out of this scam and anyother info you have
